A Founder’s Letter
In 1982, I faced a choice: to take the easy, well-worn path—or to build something more personal, more daring, and more meaningful. I chose the climb.
Leaving my comfort zone, I began a journey filled with challenges, risks, and setbacks. There were moments of exhaustion, doubt, and hardship—but the higher I climbed, the clearer the view became. The goal was never just to reach the top—it was to make every step count, no matter how steep the road.
One of the most important decisions I made was to focus our entire expertise on a single location—to cultivate, refine, and perfect our craft in one place. That commitment to quality, precision, and personal care became the foundation of our success. I also made it a point to offer genuine guidance and thoughtful recommendations to each customer who walked through our door.
Over the years, persistence, passion, and love for this profession carried me through. In 2007, I was deeply honored to receive the “International Meritorious Service Award” from DLI/IFI in Las Vegas USA, a recognition that belongs just as much to my team and customers as it does to me.
Today, MDC stands as a leader in the industry. But progress has no final destination. I remain as committed as ever to giving my best to this career and to serving every one of you with the same dedication that started it all.
To all our valued customers: thank you, again and again, for the trust you’ve placed in me and in MDC over the past 45 years. This journey wouldn’t have been possible without you.
With heartfelt gratitude,

Although I graduated as an Electrical & Computer Engineer from the American University of Beirut, I have always enjoyed writing. And since, I have witnessed my father, Antoine Badr, owner of the Maryland Dry Cleaners (“MDC”), in every step along the way. He gave me the honor to write this introduction.
The MDC is not only equipment and a location. It's about employees, spirit, passion, art, knowhow and a man who believed in all of it. Yes, I am talking about my father, who, for more than 45 years, sacrificed his time, just to recreate a new approach and identity of the dry cleaning industry in Lebanon. Through my father, I learned that MDC is about four qualities: determination, sacrifice, knowledge and passion. When you want something as bad as you want to breathe, you will work for it and eventually you will get it. My father's determination is what got the MDC to where it is today because of the vision he held since he first set foot in the company.
With a degree in Economics, he believed in his goals and most importantly believed in himself.
When my father tells people that he spent more than 40 years of his life to achieve his goal, they are awestruck. But it's true! He worked hard, sacrificing his time, body and mind for the one thing he believed in: to craft the image that the MDC holds today; the image of almost perfection and professionalism.
Without passion and love for what you do, you cannot succeed. He saw where this road could lead him one day. Determination and continuous performance were my father’s main drivers.
Today, the owner of MDC achieved his dreams. He calls the MDC a “Clothes' Hospital” not because it sounds fancy but because every piece of clothing is treated with care, responsibility and diligence; just like doctors treat patients. Customer relation and trust are a priority.
The MDC is not just cleaning; it's an artistic canvas, a chemistry laboratory and the story of a passionate man who invested many years to achieve a dream; the dream of a career.
Sincere regards to all MDC clients, Nicolas Badr
